Meet the Candidates Forum set for Oct. 14
CASS COUNTY - Officials at the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce and the Atlantic Business and Professional Women (BPW) invite the public to attend the Meet the Candidates Forum to be held Tuesday, Oct. 14 in the Atlantic High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Candidates for sheriff, county supervisor, state representative, and US Congress have been invited to the forum. A list of candidates who will be in attendance will be released in October.
Last June, Cass County residents went to the poll to chosen candidates from each party to run in the general election. On the Republican side, the following will be running for office: Darby McLaren of Atlantic for Cass County Sheriff, Frank Waters of Cumberland for Cass County District 5 Supervisor, Duane McFadden of Atlantic for Cass County District 1 Supervisor, Charles Rieken of Griswold for Cass County District 4 Supervisor, Christopher Reed of Marion for US Senate Seat, Steve King for US Fifth District Representative, Jack Drake of Lewis for Iowa State Representative 57th District, Clel Baulder of Greenfield for Iowa State Representative 58th District,
On the Democratic side, the following will be running for office: Donald Lappe of Atlantic for Cass County Sheriff, Kenner McDermott Baxter of Marne for Cass County District 1 Supervisor, Bill Behnken of Massena for Cass County District 5 Supervisor, Tom Harkin of Cumming for US Senate Seat, Rob Hubler of Council Bluffs for US Fifth District Representative, Ron Rosmann of Harlan for Iowa State Representative 57th District, and Christopher Nelson of Menlo for Iowa State Representative 58th District.
