Cass County Endowment Grants available

CASS COUNTY - Applications are available again for non-profit organizations to apply for grants from the Cass County Endowment Fund, according to a press release from the officials with Endowment Funds of Southwest Iowa. Approximately $49,248 is available for grants for organizations in Cass County.
“(Individuals) must be able to demonstrate broad community/county support and supply a copy of their 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter. Requests for general operational funds will not be considered,” officials said in the release. “Application procedures and grant guidelines can be obtained online at http://locator.iowacommunityfoundations.org/page10000050.cfm. The original signed grant application must be emailed to grants@omahafoundation.org or mailed to the foundation office at 302 South 36th Street, Suite 100, Omaha, Neb, 68131 no earlier than Aug. 15 with a final deadline of Sept. 2. Previous versions of the application form will not be accepted. A second complete application must be mailed to Nicholas Hunt, Chair, 59433 585th Street, Atlantic, IA 50022.”
Individuals should contact Dennis Nissen at 800-794-3458 or dennis@omahafoundation.org or Kris Penney at kris@omahafoundation.org with grant application specific questions. All completed applications will be considered at the October board meeting with notification of results the end of October. Individuals can also contact any board member for additional information.

Landsness, Esq. of Atlantic, 243-1663; Royal Bierbaum of rural Griswold, 778-2586; and Mark D. Kyhnn, CPA of Atlantic, 243-1800.
In May, over $60,000 was given away to 24 different groups. Following are the names of the organizations, what they will be using the grant funds for, and the amount of the grant each organization received:
Matthew’s House Christian Childcare-childcare equipment upgrades-$500; Anita Child Care Center-purchasing four cribs in the infant room-$1,000; Cass County Agricultural and Educational Association-create new brochure and website-$1,000; Hitchcock House Advisory Board-wallpaper replacement-$1,000; Kids Come First-improvements and technology updates to the program-$1,000; Lewis Public Library-preservation of history-$1,000; Massena Public Library-furniture and children’s materials to enhance growing library needs-$1,000; Anita Foundation, Inc.-new treadmills for the Health and Wellness Center-$4,000; Anita Public Library-computer replacement and upgrades-$2,000;
Cass County Fireman’s Association-larger capacity radios-$2,000; CASS, Inc.-Keys to Success-$2,000; Cumberland Public Library-children’s technology and updating the children’s area-$2,000; Griswold Public Library-purchase a digital projector, screen, podium, microphone, laptop computer, and sound system-$2,000; Cumberland Community Boosters-refinish the floor in the community center-$2,459.92; Atlantic Lions Club-Cedar Street Park playground facility upgrades-$2,500; Atlantic Public Library-purchase a new checkout/catalog system-$2,500; Cass County Conservation Board-Cocklin Fish Farm Park improvements-$2,500;
Atlantic Rock Island Society-purchase and install a heat pump-$3,000; Cass County Historical Museum and Society-renovation of the receiving area-$4,000; Friends of the Atlantic Iowa Animal Shelter-purchase of animal sanitation and feeding equipment-$4,000; Griswold Community School District-AEDs for the Griswold Community School District-$4,000; Nishna Valley Trails, Inc.-Schildberg Quarry Trail Enhancement- $4,000; Wesley Retirement Services, Inc.-Wesley Miles of Smiles Mobile Dental Program-$4,000; City of Atlantic-East Ridge Park Project-$7,500.
